Protecting client revenue of an FX and spread betting eTrading platform

One of the UK’s leading financial services companies, specialising in FX and spread betting, engaged us to help improve the performance of their online trading platforms and establish real time monitoring across their entire technology estate.

The challenge

End-users, when experiencing issues, were notifying our client about system related issues that our client was unaware of.

Locating issues was a time consuming process and, once found, they took a long time to resolve, due to a lack of visibility across systems. Fiercely competitive market conditions meant clients would take their business elsewhere if our client’s systems were unavailable.


What we did

By rolling Geneos out across their trading room technology, our client was able to see the state of all systems making up their online trading platforms. Geneos was configured to monitor everything, including third party systems such as Morningstar, Current XTR and bespoke systems.

Geneos provides key performance metrics, in real time, to ensure all of their clients and price feeds are connected and their front-end prices are streaming correctly. Data accuracy is essential, as it provides their clients additional confidence when executing orders. The key metrics generated by Geneos provide vital trending of trading behaviour to support capacity management and forecasting activities, and helps the operations team provide even better client service.


The results

Our client now has the real time insight they need to run their business, across both FX and spread betting. Operations teams have clear views of the status of their technology, while business users can view schematics of order flows and performance. With increased trading system uptime, the business has been able to minimise any financial loss from trading on stale prices, or failure to execute trades due to system issues.

With our client able to resolve problems before they impact the business, they are first to inform customers if there are issues that take longer to fix. This has led to improved customer service levels, and our client no longer loses business to the competition, as high-value clients are constantly monitored to ensure they can continue trading under all circumstances.

In addition, end-of-day processes are fully automated, and performance statistics on trade flows and prices give traders ample business intelligence that was previously unattainable.
