Volunteer Day - Ukraine Crisis Appeal

Everyone has 3 Volunteer Days to use at ITRS and this is a personal favourite of mine. I've been meaning to utilise this and donate some time for a worthy cause.

The opportunity came to help at a small charity called Mission Without Borders. The organisation seeks to break the cycle of poverty in families in Eastern Europe, working with local field teams to aid access to healthcare and other services. They recently launched a Ukraine Crisis Appeal and saw an overwhelming response from many in the UK.

My job was simple - besides participating in the essential tea round (an all-important cultural practice here!), I was to send out thank-you notes to over 150 donors who have generously responded to the appeal. It's humbling to work in a two-man charity (other staff are part-time) where both software and hardware equipment are more vintage, shall we say. Nonetheless, it was time well spent in a cheerful environment with easy on-going banter.

Needless to say, they are very appreciative of any help. If anyone's interested to find out more, do click on the link here.

PS: Turns out my tea-making skills were up to scratch and I was invited back to help again!
